Starting an Internet-Based Business

Starting an Internet-Based Business, or...
How I Made it Happen In My  Midlife

I didn't make the transition from full-time work in medical advertising to a freelance/coaching lifestyle without help (see my Friends and Advisors page).

There are a few specific resources that really helped to accelerate my progress. Here they are. You don't need to be a coach to capitalize on them; other types of Internet-based business can use some of the sameresources that I used to get going. Here they are.

I first became acquainted with Debbie La Chusa,  small business marketing expert, through Wellcoaches, because she provides a session on marketing to trainees. Having signed on for her newsletter, I found out about the Step-of-the-Month Club she offered and knew that it was what I needed to learn more about how to get my site up and running.

Debbie has also created a program called 6-figure Work at Home Moms (WHAMS). You can access it at:

Andrea J Lee and her Multiple Streams of Coaching Income 'Dream' Team have really opened my eyes as to how to structure my coaching products and services in a way that I can make money and have meaning in my life.  When I read Andrea's book, I knew that I had to implement her ideas. My virtual assistant, Jenny, is part of my 'Dream' team, via Andrea's affilation with Victoria Business Solutions.

How lucky I was to attend the New Jersey Professional Coaches Association meeting at which Deborah Gallant, internet savvy entrepreneur coach, spoke. She focused on making the most of your internet presence, followed by a short description of her web site building programs. Just when I needed it!

I first learned about how to create information products (that is, my e-booklets) by reading a book by Stephen Fairley:

Getting Started in Personal and Executive Coaching: How to Create a Thriving Practice

Getting Started

I discovered Stephen's e-book How to create an Information Product in 30 Days on one of his Web sites:
www.todaysleadership.com

Several other books have been helpful, too.

One of the first books I read that made me realize that a shift to full-time coaching would be possible:
Four Steps

My Wellcoaches Mastermind caoch, Lori Boothroyd told me about Milana Leshinsky.

Coaching Millions

T. Harv Eker's Book: Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, is helpful for realizing that  making more money means that I can help more people.
